Joe Derkin, Executive Committee Chairman

I’m Chairman Joe Derkin. I was raised by my military parents in Wadsworth, Ohio. I attended Kent State University and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Political Science. I moved to Washington, DC and worked for the Republican National Committee. Eventually, I moved back to Ohio and worked for the Ohio Republican Party. In 2012 I took on the role of Campaign Field Director for Congressman Jim Renacci. 

Something was missing, I still felt I was not doing enough. I realized my calling was in the legal profession. I attended Law School at Ohio Northern University. Once I was licensed, I accepted the position of Assistant Prosecutor at the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office. 

I was unanimously elected as the Washington County Republican Party Chairman on June 15, 2020. As the Chairman, I use the knowledge and experience I gained from my past with working on campaigns. This helps me work with the Republican candidates and volunteers to get the candidates elected. We hold trainings, fundraisers, and use a grassroots approach. Working together is how we will strengthen the Republican Party. We must ensure the conservative voices are heard for our county and our country. I believe everyone of us can make a difference. The more people we can get to work together, the louder our voices will get. There are many different ways to volunteer so we can continue to improve our community and our country.
