What We Believe

Our Principles & Platform

We are Republicans because we share these Principles:

1. We believe that the proper function of government is to do for the people those things that have to be done, but cannot be done, or cannot be done as well, by individuals; and that the most effective government is the government closest to its people.

2. We believe that good government is based on the individual and that each person’s ability, dignity, freedom and responsibility must be honored and recognized.

3. We believe that free enterprise and encouragement of individual initiative and incentive have given this nation an economic system second-to-none.

4. We believe that sound money management should be our goal.

5. We believe in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all–regardless of race, creed, age, sex, religion or national origin.

6. We believe we must retain those principles of the past worth retaining, yet always be receptive to new ideas with an outlook broad enough to accommodate thoughtful change and varying points of view.

7. We believe that Americans value and should preserve their feelings of national strength and pride, and at the same time share with people everywhere their desire for peace and freedom and the extension of human rights throughout the world.

8. We believe that the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.

9. We believe in the sanctity of life.

IT IS A GREAT TIME TO BE

An Ohio Republican

Our Platform consists of 8 Fundamental elements:

1. Efficient, effective and honest government operating in a businesslike-fashion: economically and within budget.

2. Limited local government dedicated to its main purposes such as police, fire, justice, sanitation, waste disposal and public sanitation.

3. Law and order as per the Constitution; that is, providing a safe and secure environment for all of our citizens in their homes and daily lives and the swift and fair administration of the criminal justice system.

4. Limited government spending, low taxation and a preference that, in the absence of exceptional circumstances, any local tax increase have voter approval and be dedicated to a specific, not general, funding purpose.

5. Economic growth, job creation and freedom of business to operate without undue government regulation and with minimum interference in the employer-employee relationship.

6. Equal rights and equality of opportunity for all–regardless of race, creed, age, sex, religion or national origin.

7. Quality education for all at a reasonable cost.

8. A clean and healthy environment.
